The Challenge
Like many school districts across the nation, Beaumont Independent School District (BISD) was grappling with a critical educator shortage. As teaching vacancies continue to rise, BISD needed a creative and scalable solution to ensure that students still receive high-quality instruction — even in classrooms without a full-time certified teacher.
The Solution
To meet this challenge, BISD turned to IPEVO, leveraging the power of IPEVO’s TOTEM 360 and 180 panoramic cameras to connect experienced teachers with classrooms in need.
The district placed the TOTEM 360 camera in the classroom of a veteran teacher, enabling them to deliver live, interactive lessons. Meanwhile, in the receiving classroom, a substitute teacher or facilitator supervises the students while a TOTEM 180 provides the veteran teacher with a clear, real-time view of the class. This bidirectional video setup, connected seamlessly via Newline Panels, allows for active, real-time engagement — from seeing raised hands to responding to questions as if the teacher were physically present.
This innovative model has allowed BISD to extend the reach of its most effective educators, bridging classrooms and maintaining instructional quality across the district. As BISD shared, “These two devices have proven to be a perfect fit for our program, effectively supporting instruction across multiple classrooms.
By adopting IPEVO’s 360 and 180 cameras, Beaumont ISD has built a forward-thinking solution to a nationwide issue — using technology not just to fill gaps, but to elevate learning.
